Next Sunday, February 9, Holy Communion Service in English @ 10:00 am.Sunday School begins at 9 am.

 

Canadian Mar Thoma Regional Committee Inaugural Function:

To form a Regional Activities Center in the Canada Region, was a long awaited plan of the Diocese for the purpose of organizing programs and events under the head, Canadian Mar Thoma Regional Committee.  God has accomplished this plan and to officially kick-start CMRC, an inaugural function is being organized and is tentatively scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 7 under the able and gracious leadership of our Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr.Isaac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa.  We will have other distinguished guests as well, for the function.  Food will be served soon after the function for all in attendance.  Program will entail keynote address, presentations from the choir, Sunday school and felicitations.  More details to follow, closer to the date.  This function is being held at our Church, and kindly request your full participation. 

 

First time Holy Communion Communicants:

Parents please note, if you have signed up your child to participate in the Holy Communion Service on Sunday, March 8, the classes for the same starts this afternoon with an info session for both parents and children.  These classes are mandatory to be able to participate in the Holy Communion Service on March 8.  So, children must attend the classes every Sunday leading up the Holy Communion Sunday.

Holy Communion service, at the Church, at 159 Sandiford Dr.,

Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON L4A 0Y2, to transact the following agenda.

President, Rev. Sunil Mathew will preside the meeting.

1. To present and adopt the Annual Report for 2019

2. To present and adopt the Statement of Audited Income and Expenditure

for 2019

3. To present and approve the Budget for 2020

As announced, as part of the Canadian Mar Thoma Regional Committee Inaugural program, Sunday school is playing a part by presenting a program on Saturday, March 7.  So, we request all Sunday school children to assemble in the sanctuary, soon after the Choir GB meeting, next Sunday, Feb 9.  Children and parents must commit to at least 3 full practices to be part of the same. 

 

Youth Fellowship Announcement:

The Canadian MTC Youth Fellowship would like to invite you to Ignite 2020 on Saturday, February 15, at 5 pm.   The evening will be filled with worship, skit and a silent art auction by our very own talented youths.  Tickets are available in the foyer.  Family tickets for $40, for a family of 3 or more.  Individual tickets for $15.  For more information, please contact Reuben Alexander.

Sevika Sangham Announcement:

World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement of Christian women in 170 countries coming together to observe a common day of prayer and action during the first week in March. Each year a different country serves as the writer of the WDP worship service, interpreting the Bible in their own context, and lifting up issues of mission, justice and peace that are important to them. The WDP motto is “Informed prayer, prayerful action.” In 2020, the World Day of Prayer Committee chose the theme: “Rise! Take Your Mat and Walk” based on John 5:2–9 The women of Zimbabwe welcome you to World day of Prayer 2020 taking place on Friday, March 6.

 

Regular Prayer Meeting of the Sevika Sangham will take place on Saturday, February 15 from 10 am to 12 pm with Praise & Worship starting promptly at 10 am.  All Sevika Sangham members are requested to attend this meeting prayerfully.  Rev. Sunil Mathew Achen will lead the meeting.

Obituary:

It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing away of Mrs. Jolly Joseph (Jolly Kochamma), wife of Rev. Dr. M. J. Joseph on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.    Kochamma is also the mother-in-law of Rev. Abu Cherian and Rev. Suneeth Mathew (Vicar of St. Thomas Church, Chicago).  Funeral is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 5 – Service at home @ 10 am and Service at the church at 12 noon.  Please continue to uphold the family in our prayers.   Kochamma is the wife of our former Vicar, Rev. Dr. M. J. Joseph Achen who was here in service for the term 1988 to 1991. 

 

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing away of Mrs. Selinamma John (83), member of the St. Mathews MTC, wife of Late Mr. P.K John, mother of Mrs. Susan George (Roy & Susan), Mrs. Sheena Cherian (Monie & Sheena) and Mr. Shibu John (Shibu & Jincy) and sister of Mr. John Kandathil (Johnichan & Susie), who passed away on Wednesday, January 22 in Brampton.  Funeral service was held on January 25 @ the St. Mathews Mar Thoma Church, Milton.  On behalf of the Canadian Mar Thoma Church, we extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved families.  Please uphold the them in your prayers.
