Youth Fellowship

The Canadian Mar Thoma Youth Fellowship (the Youth fellowship), formally organized in 1980, is the first youth organization in the parish.  The Canadian Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam, another youth organization, is also functioning in the parish since 2005. The Youth fellowship works in coordination with the Youth Fellowship of the Diocese of North America and Europe. Teenagers, aged twelve to nineteen years, are in the Junior Youth Fellowship and the older youth up to the age of thirty five are in the Senior Youth Fellowship. Juniors and Seniors hold their programs separately. The activities have the main objective of developing the youth as responsible young men and women, who can face the challenges of life in a balanced manner, at the same time upholding the faith and practices of the church and christian values.

Programs include biweekly prayer meetings, study classes focused on Biblical and contemporary themes and recreational activities like Kidsfest. Kidsfest is a one day outdoor recreation event in the summer for the Juniors.  Members of the Youth fellowship participate actively in the worship services and activities of the Church and the Diocese.  Once in a year a Youth service is conducted on a Sunday, using special order of worship approved by the Vicar. The Youth Fellowship encourages its members to volunteer for the Mexico Mission of the Diocese, other missions of the Mar Thoma Church and community programs. Junior and Senior regional youth conferences are hosted by the Youth fellowship, once in two years.

The activities are conducted under the direct supervision of the Vicar as President.  The required funds are generated by publishing souvenirs for the appointed events, holding sales/bake sales, car washes and also by accepting donations from the church members or the public.
